The Community Citizen of the Year Awards give us a chance to celebrate individuals and groups who make a positive impact on our community. Whether nominated or awarded, each person’s contribution adds to the shared story of what makes the Shire of Toodyay special.

Four Award Categories

Nominations are invited across a broad range of contributions — education, health, fundraising, voluntary service, business, sports, arts, culture, environment, and social inclusion — any effort that enhances the wellbeing of our local area.

Celebrating Local Heroes

Delivered by in partnership with local councils, the Awards program has been recognising local heroes for over 20 years. Recent survey results show that 88% of recipients believe the Awards encourage active citizenship, 90% say they help recognise leaders, and 86% agree that they strengthen community connections.

Shire of Toodyay recipients will be announced at a special ceremony in January 2026.

The Awards are presented by the Shire of Toodyay in partnership with Auspire – Australia Day Council WA and Joint Patrons His Excellency the Honourable Chris Dawson AC APM, Governor of Western Australia, and Mrs Darrilyn Dawson.
